FINALLY HURRRR!

I had written a somewhat bitter blog post back in Shanghai. The trip felt like forever—32 hours in total, including flights, layovers, cabs, and buses—but I couldn’t get a WiFi signal to post it at the time, and have now decided against it. It was a typical flight story, never fun for someone who’s tall, particularly when you are on a plane designed for 5-foot-tall people (ahem, China Eastern Airlines). The moment I sat down, the elderly Asian man next to me immediately said, “You are too tall for this plane.” Thanks, bro, I figured that one out already. There was also the fine dining to be enjoyed (insert extreme sarcasm). So needless to say, by the time I hit Shanghai, I was experiencing severe hanger and exhaustion, and likely would have posted a fairly negative rant.

Flight Food…I know this isn’t the best quality photo, but come on?!? What even is this slop? And what is the butter for?
In brief, my final flight landed me in Phuket, Thailand, at about 2 a.m. As soon as I was off the plane and out of the airport, all those hellish travel hours were immediately worth it. I grabbed a cab (a 40-minute ride) to Tiger Muay Thai, where I will be staying. The entire ride, I was grinning like a fool, soaking in every moment. It’s here. I did it. Even though I don’t know what the hell I’m doing, I’m doing it, and that’s all that matters!
